Blog Analysis

Blog Analysis

After reading “Anarchy in the UC” by a man who calls himself AnimalRighter, it made me realize that the government has more things to deal with than putting away animal rights activists. The blog tells about four people being arrested on charges of “actions that could potentially provoke someone to commit acts of violence.”(Anarchy in the UC). Apparently they could spend up to five years in a federal prison. To me this is really ignorant.
The writer brings up a very good point about where our countries concerns are instead of the economy. He really needs to add a lot more details into the story though. If he is wanting to change peoples minds about an issue, he should really get behind it. To the reader he might come off as someone who doesn’t seem like he is 100 percent behind animal rights.
For the reader it might be slightly entertaining. Not that hurting animals is funny, just the whole way the writer puts the story together. There is no real passion in his writing that makes a reader feel concerned for the animals or the accused suspects. It is really just a blog for a person who to get a taste of what animal rights people are getting into. Maybe seeing this blog someone would go to other websites trying to find out more information.
The writer’s content is there, but not really that strong. It’s not really an issue that many people are going to get behind. If he really wanted to make more sense of this issue, there would have been a lot more details. My main feeling after this is, why are the police worrying about this instead of going to gang neighborhoods and dealing with the gun and drug problem. He leaves more questions than answers.
I think this blog is really just for a guy to vent about something that isn’t a huge issue in our society. There isn’t enough strength behind his words to make a real change. There are other blog entries from this guy that get into more animal rights issues that are a lot stronger than this one.
AnimalRighter needs to make people believe that he is a real activist for animals if anyone is going to take him serious. Put a little more effort into bringing issues up from just a middle school rant level to a level that adults might actually take him serious.
